Baton Rouge, LA (9/22/2024) – Shortly after 5:00 pm Saturday, September 21st, an off-duty LSP Trooper was arrested for battery during a disturbance at the LSU vs UCLA football game.
Authorities responded to reports of an altercation in the stands, discovering that Trooper Artellus Bellard, 30, of Lake Charles, was involved in a physical confrontation with two male subjects.
According to investigators, the off-duty Trooper initiated the physical battery after a verbal dispute escalated between him and the two individuals. Trooper Bellard, who has been assigned to Troop D Patrol since 2021, was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of Simple Battery.
Trooper Bellard was released on a summons and is awaiting a pending court date. At this time, no additional information has been made available, as both the criminal and administrative investigations are ongoing.
