Deputy-Involved Shooting Incident Under Investigation by Bossier Sheriff’s Office

Haughton, LA (4/21/2024) – On Saturday, April 20th, chaos unfolded on Jamerson Road in Haughton as Bossier Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding harassing phone calls in the 3100 block. What began as a routine response quickly escalated into a life-threatening situation.

Upon arrival, the first deputy encountered a suspect armed with a knife. As additional deputies arrived to assist, they attempted to apprehend the suspect. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when the suspect leaped into a BSO patrol vehicle, threatening the lives of law enforcement personnel by attempting to run them over.

In response to the imminent danger, two deputies discharged their duty weapons. The suspect, identified as Lorison Johnson, 39, sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. Despite his injuries, Johnson managed to crash the stolen sheriff’s office vehicle before being taken into custody.

Johnson was promptly transported to Ochsner’s LSU Hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, one deputy sustained a lower leg injury during the altercation and was treated and released at Willis-Knighton Bossier.

In the aftermath of the incident, Johnson faces a slew of serious charges, including 2 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, Simple Burglary, Resisting an Officer, Unauthorized use of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting an Officer with Force/Violence, and Improper Telephone Communication.

While the investigation is still in its early stages, Bossier Sheriff’s Office reassures the public that more information will be released as it becomes available. In the meantime, anyone with information related to this incident is urged to contact BPSO at (318) 965-2203.

As this situation unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the inherent risks faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. The Bossier Sheriff’s Office extends gratitude to its deputies for their swift and courageous response to this dangerous situation.
