Central Louisiana Weather and Hurricane Rafael Update

The Central Louisiana weather and Hurricane Rafael update shows that the area will experience a mix of sun and clouds today.

Temperatures are expected to range from 80 to 84 degrees, with northeast winds blowing at 5 to 10 mph. Rain chances today remain low, between 0 to 20%.

Tonight, temperatures will drop to 67 to 74 degrees, with similar wind patterns from the northeast. Rain chances will stay consistent at 0 to 20%, meaning most locations should stay dry, although isolated showers are possible.

Hurricane Rafael, currently a Category 2 storm with sustained winds of 100 mph, continues to move across the Gulf. Forecasters are increasingly confident Rafael will not make landfall along the Louisiana or southeast Texas coastlines. However, there is a slight risk (at least 15%) of excessive rainfall on Saturday due to a frontal system that may draw moisture from Rafael.

Looking ahead, rainfall chances are rising through the weekend in Central Louisiana. Forecasts indicate widespread rainfall amounts from 0.25 to 4 inches, with isolated areas possibly receiving up to 6 inches. The highest rainfall amounts are likely east of Highway 171 and north of Interstate 10, where training storms could intensify rainfall.

Residents should remain informed of changing weather conditions, especially as Rafael influences the region’s weather patterns.
