Central Louisiana Weather and Hurricane Rafael Update

Central Louisiana weather and Hurricane Rafael bring a mix of rain showers and storm forecasts today. Morning rain chances are high, gradually decreasing by the afternoon.

Alexandria will see a 50% chance of rain with temperatures reaching 81°F, while nearby areas like DeRidder and Jennings also anticipate scattered showers. Lake Charles has a higher chance of rain at 50% and temperatures peaking around 83°F.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Rafael continues to strengthen as it moves northwest across the Caribbean Sea. It is forecasted to reach western Cuba and merge over the southern Gulf by Wednesday night. Rafael is expected to track west-northwest toward the central and northern Gulf of Mexico, but gradual weakening is predicted over the weekend.

Though forecasters are confident that high shear will weaken Rafael over the northern Gulf, it’s too early to determine the potential impacts on Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas. Residents should monitor updates from the National Hurricane Center and National Weather Service for the latest forecast information.

Stay safe and informed as Central Louisiana braces for weather changes and monitors the progress of Hurricane Rafael.
