The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Central Louisiana. Today, temperatures will soar to 97°F, with a heat index as high as 107°F. Winds will remain calm, becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight will be mostly clear with temperatures dropping to 75°F and south winds becoming calm. Thursday’s forecast predicts sunny skies and highs reaching 97°F, with heat index values peaking at 106°F. Winds will stay calm throughout the day.
The heat continues on Friday, with temperatures rising to 98°F. Expect mostly clear skies at night, with a low around 77°F and calm winds. A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecasted for Saturday after 1pm, with a high of 97°F. Sunday will see a slight increase in storm chances, with a 30% probability after 1pm and a high near 96°F.
The heat advisory warns of heat index values up to 110°F, which can cause heat illnesses. Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and avoid direct sun exposure. Precautions should be taken to avoid heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

- Lower St. Mary Parish
