Baton Rouge: Mother arrested after infant dies of fentanyl overdose

Baton Rouge, LA (3/2/2023) – Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) reported a woman was arrested; officials say the child died of a drug overdose.

Tiffany Thomason, 49, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was charged with negligent Homicide in her son’s death by the BRPD Homicide Division. The EBR Coroner’s Office ruled earlier this week that the infant’s death resulted from a fentanyl overdose.

This case was previously being investigated as a co-sleeping death. However, the final toxicology report gave the investigating Detectives the evidence needed to proceed with the charge of Negligent Homicide.

Thomason has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
