PINEVILLE, LA — The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office corrected a routine clerical error Thursday morning following questions regarding a recent arrest.
The issue surfaced after the Pineville Police Department arrested three 17-year-olds for first-degree rape on Tuesday. Two suspects appeared on the public inmate roster immediately, but Gabriel Jeansonne’s information did not. This data gap led to a wave of speculation and confusion across social media platforms.
A Simple Technical Oversight
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) looked into the matter to provide clarity to the public. They found that a staff member accidentally checked an incorrect box during the intake process. The error labeled Jeansonne as a juvenile instead of an adult.
Because the system protects the privacy of minors, it automatically kept his name off the public website. RPSO officials stated they corrected the file as soon as they were notified. They process over 7,000 arrests each year and work daily to maintain accurate public records.
Pineville Police Verify Procedures
The Pineville Police Department (PPD) also addressed the situation to ensure transparency. They confirmed that officers followed the same felony booking procedures for all three suspects.
Officers delivered every individual to the jail at the same time with identical paperwork. PPD emphasized that the temporary reporting issue was strictly an administrative matter at the detention center. They remained focused on the facts of the case despite the noise circulating online.
Status of the Charges
Gabriel Jeansonne is now correctly listed on the public inmate inquiry with a $100,000.00 bond. All three suspects face a charge of first-degree rape under Louisiana law.
This specific charge carries a mandatory life sentence at hard labor without the benefit of parole. RPSO apologized for the inconvenience the error caused to their partner agency and the public. They reaffirmed their commitment to rectifying mistakes quickly to maintain community trust.
