BATON ROUGE, La. (8/31/2023) — On Wednesday, an Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested after being accused of bringing contraband into jail.Â
According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, an investigation into deputy Ryan Callaway was underway after Callaway brought contraband into the Ascension Parish jail at least once. During an interview, Callaway admitted to the transaction and was fired. Callaway was employed by the Corrections Division for about one year.
Callaway was booked into jail on charges of introduction of contraband into a penal facility and malfeasance in office.
