Chopin, LA (6/14/2023) – The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NPSO) reported a vehicle fire on I-49 near Chopin.
At approximately 7:23 am, NPSO Deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection (NPFD) District #1 responded to reports of a vehicle fire on I-49 northbound at milepost #113 near Chopin according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and NPFD #1 arrived on the scene, finding the vehicle engulfed in flames. Deputies say the 2022 Ford F-150 operator stated they were northbound on I-49 near Chopin when they began to see what appeared to be sparks beneath the truck and then smoke. The driver pulled over to the shoulder, exited, and shortly thereafter observed flames calling 911 for assistance.
The vehicle received heavy fire damage. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
