Alexandria, LA (5/27/2023) – Nearly two weeks after securing a warrant for the arrest of a man suspected of attempted second-degree murder, the Alexandria Police Department (APD) released the following press release on its Facebook Page Saturday, May 27, 2023.
On Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10:39 P.M., the Alexandria Police responded to a report of a shooting incident at Levin Street and Chester Street. Responding officers discovered a victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. On Thursday, May 18, 2023, the Alexandria Police Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Norman Coty on one count of Attempted Second Degree Murder. Coty, a 29-year-old black male, is considered armed and dangerous. Please note that this case is currently under active investigation. (5/27/2023) - Alexandria Police Department (APD), assisted by Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies, attempted to search a house in the 6000 Block of Cavan Circle, just off Dublin Road.
According to sources on the scene, APD could be heard repeatedly asking individuals (s) to come outside the house with their hands up. At least five officers could be seen on video charging into the home.
Sources on the scene said no one was in the house, and it appeared no one was arrested..
