Tuesday’s Weather (1/24/2023)

There is an ENHANCED RISK for severe weather this afternoon and evening for the area extending from south-central Louisiana through coastal southwest Louisiana to Jefferson County.

A Marginal to Slight Risk is located elsewhere. The greatest risk for tornadoes and damaging wind gusts will be in the enhanced risk area, although the remainder of the area may also see storms with the potential to produce damaging winds, large hail, or a few spin-up tornadoes.

Also, heavy rainfall will be possible that may cause urban-type flooding.

A High Wind Warning is in effect for the area roughly southeast of a Beaumont to Alexandria line from noon today to 11 pm CST. A Wind Advisory is in effect for the same time for locations northwest of this line.

For the High Wind Warning – sustained southeast winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph are expected. These damaging winds will blow down tree limbs and power lines. Scattered to widespread power outages can be expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect on Tuesday from 3 pm CST to 9 pm CST. Tides 2 to 3 feet above normal may cause flooding during the high tide time.
