18-year-old arrested for the Bourbon Street shooting that injured five

New Orleans, La. (11/29/2022) – New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) arrested Dashawn Myre, 24, in the Bourbon Street shooting incident on November 27, 2022, in the 200 block of Bourbon Street that injured five people.

At about 1:49 a.m. on November 27, NOPD officers patrolling near Bourbon Street responded to a call of shots fired. Responding officers arrived and located five victims who had sustained gunshot injuries. The victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers initially detained two individuals near the scene of the incident, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old male. Both subjects were arrested on one count for illegally possessing a concealed firearm.

Through further investigation, detectives determined the 18-year-old male – identified as Myre – to be the perpetrator of the shooting incident.

On November 28, Myre was additionally booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on five counts of aggravated second-degree battery and one count of illegal weapon use.
