Shreveport, La. (10/10/2022) – On October 9, 2022, at 9:25 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to Interstate 20 West and Jewella Avenue on reports of a crash involving a Pedestrian. Officers arrived and discovered a 2016 Volvo 18-wheeler truck that had struck a pedestrian.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was present and unharmed. The Pedestrian was deceased at the scene of the accident. Crash Investigators were summoned to the scene.Â
Their preliminary investigation indicated that that the 2016 Volvo /18-wheeler was traveling westbound on Interstate 20. When going over the overpass a pedestrian appeared on the roadway, resulting in a collision.
The Shreveport Police Department reminds all persons that pedestrians are not permitted to be on any interstate roadway at any time. Pedestrians on the Interstate Highway System present a distinctive traffic safety problem and account for 10 percent of all pedestrian fatalities each year in the United States.
Investigation into this accident is ongoing. This marks the 23″ traffic accident fatality in Shreveport in 2022.
