Wanted Vernon Parish Man Arrested

Vernon Parish, La. (10/4/2022) = According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office man wanted for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile and Second Degree Kidnapping is in custody.

Joseph Albert Phillips, age 26, of Leesville, was arrested in Aransas Pass, Texas. Phillips has had outstanding warrants relating to the disappearance of 14-year-old Kaylee Brittain of Evans.

VPSO received information that Phillips had attempted to use a stolen cash app card in Aransas Pass, Texas. Detectives immediately contacted Texas Law Enforcement Agencies and the United States Border Patrol agents. Officers with the Aransas Pass Police Department began an immediate canvas of the area and located both Phillips and Brittain in a park.

Phillips and Brittain were taken into custody and are being transported to the Aransas Pass Police Department. Arrangements are being made for law enforcement to transport Brittain back to Vernon Parish. Phillips will be incarcerated in Texas until he can be extradited to Vernon Parish.
