ALEXANDRIA, La. (RAPC: 11/4/2026) – Residents across the Alexandria–Pineville region will have an opportunity to help shape transportation improvements for the next 25 years.
The Rapides Area Planning Commission (RAPC) will host three public open houses on November 11, 17, and 18, 2026.
The meetings are part of Move 2050, an update to the region’s Metropolitan Transportation Plan.
RAPC serves as the Alexandria–Pineville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), which coordinates regional transportation planning.
Through Move 2050, planners want to hear directly from residents about transportation challenges and future priorities.
The discussions will focus on roadway safety, traffic congestion, public transportation, sidewalks, bicycle facilities, and other transportation improvements.
Additionally, residents can review regional transportation needs and share ideas about projects they believe deserve attention.
Three Public Open Houses Scheduled
The first open house will take place Wednesday, November 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. The church is located at 1800 England Drive in Alexandria.
The second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Alexandria Main Library. The meeting will take place in the Main Programming Room.
The final open house will take place Wednesday, November 18, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Martin Library in Pineville. Residents can attend the meeting in the Martin Meeting Room.
Each open house will give participants an opportunity to learn about the transportation planning process.
Residents can also identify transportation problems and recommend improvements they would like to see in their communities.
Virtual Participation Available
Residents who cannot attend in person can still participate through the Move 2050 Virtual Open House.
The online option allows community members to provide feedback without attending one of the scheduled meetings.
Residents can access the virtual open house here: https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/84abbde66d42418586369f21a420d73a
RAPC encourages residents throughout the region to participate and share their transportation priorities.
Public feedback will help planners develop a transportation plan that reflects the needs of communities across the Alexandria–Pineville region.
