Alexandria, La. (UrbanCast: 1/5/2026) – A 15-month-old Alexandria child is dead, and days after the incident, the City of Alexandria has yet to publicly acknowledge what happened.
Henderius Joseph Fulton Jr. died Monday after suffering severe injuries on July 31. According to his mother, he was in the care of a sitter while she was at work when the incident occurred.
She said her son was rushed to Rapides Regional Medical Center with a broken jaw and other serious injuries before doctors airlifted him to a hospital in New Orleans.
Despite medical efforts, Henderius was declared brain dead. He died on Aug. 4 at 10:35 a.m. while surrounded by his parents and loved ones.
UrbanCast contacted the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office seeking official information. A coroner’s office official confirmed that the office is investigating Henderius’ death. The official also confirmed that an autopsy is pending and that the investigation remains active.
According to Henderius’ mother, Alexandria Police Detective Desiree Paul is leading the investigation.
Although the incident occurred on July 31, the City of Alexandria has not released a public statement regarding the child’s reported injuries or death.
UrbanCast Requested Information
UrbanCast requested information through the City’s established media process.
In a previous email to UrbanCast, Robert Distefano stated that Michael Caffery, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, serves as the City’s point of contact for media inquiries and public relations. He instructed that requests for information be directed through Caffery to help ensure the quality and consistency of information released by the City.
Following that direction, UrbanCast submitted a request for information regarding this case.
UrbanCast also contacted Police Chief Chad Gremillion, Fire Chief Sam Allen, mayoral candidates Lerenzo Davis and Malcolm Larvadain, Council-at-Large candidate Gregory Scott, Councilman Gary Johnson, Councilwoman Cynthia Perry, Councilwoman Elizabeth Felter, Councilman Chuck Fowler, Councilman-at-Large Jim Villard, Jules Green, Candice Chaney, Police Juror Jay Scott and State Representative Ed Larvadain III.
As of publication, no response had been received.
