APD Identifies Homicide Victim on Cummins Street as Investigation Continues

ALEXANDRIA, La. (UrbanCast: 6/8/2026) — Alexandria Police have identified the victim in Monday morning’s homicide on Cummins Street as 35-year-old Marlow Trottie.

According to a news release issued by the Alexandria Police Department, officers responded to the 2400 block of Cummins Street at approximately 7:30 a.m. after receiving a report of an individual found deceased.

Investigators later ruled the death a homicide.

As of Monday afternoon, police had not announced any arrests. Authorities also had not released information regarding a suspect or a possible motive.

UrbanCast extends its condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Marlow Trottie during this difficult time.

Earlier in the day, residents flooded UrbanCast with messages, observations, and requests for information. Many reported hearing commotion in the area or seeing the large police presence while traveling to work.

Others contacted UrbanCast after passing the scene near Alexandria City Park, CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, nearby medical offices, and surrounding businesses. Many wanted to know whether there was any threat to public safety.

Basic Public Safety Information Remained Unavailable

However, basic public safety information remained unavailable for several hours after the scene was secured. During that time, residents were left wondering whether there was an ongoing danger to the community.

UrbanCast submitted a request for information to the City of Alexandria shortly after reports of the incident began circulating. Specifically, UrbanCast sought basic information regarding the nature of the incident and whether there was any threat to public safety.

Records previously obtained by UrbanCast show that media inquiries and public relations for the City of Alexandria are coordinated through the office of Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Michael Caffery. Despite those efforts, no information was immediately provided to the public regarding the incident.

Several hours later, the Alexandria Police Department released a statement identifying the victim and confirming that investigators had ruled the death a homicide.

While police have now confirmed the nature of the incident, questions remain unanswered. Most notably, no arrest has been announced, and authorities have not indicated whether they believe the incident was targeted or if any danger remains to the public.

Lack of Timely Public Information

The lack of timely public information continues to concern many residents. Citizens often rely on law enforcement agencies to provide basic updates during significant incidents, especially when they occur near hospitals, parks, businesses, and heavily traveled roadways.

Meanwhile, the Alexandria Police Department stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone with information about this homicide is encouraged to contact the Alexandria Police Detective Division at (318) 441-6416 or APD Dispatch at (318) 441-6559. Information can also be emailed to APDDetectives@cityofalex.com.

Individuals wishing to remain anonymous may contact Crime Stoppers of CenLa at (318) 443-7867 or submit a tip through the P3 Tips mobile application.

UrbanCast will continue following this case and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
