RAPIDES PARISH, La. — Two people were injured in an early morning drive-by shooting on US 71 South, according to authorities.
Deputies responded to the area near Gene Ball Drive at approximately 2:49 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2026, after receiving reports of gunfire. Gene Ball is located near the Airview Terrace neighborhood in Alexandria, Louisiana.
When deputies arrived, they located two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel transported both victims to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been released.
According to witnesses, the suspect vehicle is described as a white SUV. However, the make and model remain unknown at this time.
Following the incident, sheriff’s detectives and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene. Investigators began processing evidence and working to determine what led up to the shooting.
At this time, the Rapides Parish drive-by shooting remains under investigation.
