Alexandria, La. (2/26/2026) – The Bayou Maria Road shooting Pineville investigation has led to an arrest in Alexandria. Sheriff’s Detectives took Kendale Corday Wilkins, 19, into custody on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
At approximately 2 PM, detectives tracked Wilkins from the February 19 shooting scene to a residence in the 100 block of Live Oak Street. Investigators had conducted surveillance and confirmed Wilkins was inside the home.
When detectives arrived, they detained one subject outside the residence. Meanwhile, deputies with the RPSO Crime Suppression Unit heard movement inside the home. As a result, they requested assistance from the Alexandria Police Department. Officers then located Wilkins inside and arrested him without further incident.
Authorities also arrested three additional individuals for accessory after the fact. Those arrested include Kenderek Wilkins, Mariah Sanders, and Mary Bordelon. Officials have not released mugshots or bond information at this time.
Wilkins will be transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He faces an original charge of attempted second degree murder connected to the February 19 shooting.
Rapides Area Drug Enforcement
In addition, agents with the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement Unit responded to conduct a narcotics investigation at the scene. However, officials have not released further details about that investigation.
The victim in the shooting has since been released from the hospital.
Previously, deputies responded to the 500 block of Bayou Maria Road at approximately 4:27 PM on February 19. Deputies located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. However, the suspect had fled before law enforcement arrived.
Detectives later identified Wilkins as the suspect and secured a warrant for his arrest. Authorities had warned that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office thanked the Alexandria Police Department for assisting in the arrest. Meanwhile, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
