Herbert Dixon to Receive Charles I. Hudson Visionary Award at LLBC Black History Luncheon

GRAMBLING, La. (2/26/2026) — Former Rapides Parish School Board member and Louisiana State Representative Herbert Dixon will receive the Charles I. Hudson Visionary Award during the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Annual Black History Luncheon.

The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus and its foundation announced Dixon’s selection in a formal letter dated February 5, 2025. Leaders recognized him for his service work across Louisiana.

The luncheon will take place Thursday, February 26, 2026, at noon. Organizers will host the event at Grambling State University in the Favrot Student Union’s Black and Gold Room.

Caucus leaders said the annual luncheon honors past, present, and future leaders. They celebrate individuals who continue to raise the quality of life for Louisiana citizens.

In the letter, officials stated Dixon’s contributions have made a significant impact in moving Louisiana forward. They invited him to attend and receive the award in person.

Honorable Jason Hughes, President of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Foundation, signed the announcement. Honorable Edmond Jordan, Chairman of the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus, also signed the correspondence.

The Charles I. Hudson Visionary Award recognizes leadership, service, and commitment to advancing communities across the state. Organizers said they look forward to celebrating Dixon’s achievements during the February gathering.
