William Dewaine Ahart Sr. Arrested After SWAT Standoff in Boyce

BOYCE, La.(2/26/2026) — The William Dewaine Ahart Sr arrest followed a SWAT response Tuesday evening in Boyce.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Detectives attempted to serve an arrest warrant. Deputies located the suspect in the 70 block of Kisatchie Hills Road off LA 28 West.

However, investigators said William Dewaine Ahart Sr., 49, barricaded himself inside the residence. He refused to exit or surrender to detectives.

Because Ahart was wanted for violent offenses, authorities escalated their response. The RPSO SWAT Team and negotiators activated to assist with the apprehension.

SWAT members established a perimeter around the home. Meanwhile, negotiators attempted contact by telephone and public address system.

For more than two hours, deputies worked to communicate with Ahart. When contact efforts failed, officials grew concerned he may have been injured inside.

As a result, the SWAT Team made entry into the residence. Deputies located Ahart and took him into custody without further incident.

Authorities said they will transport Ahart to the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He faces various charges, including convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Officials thanked residents in the surrounding neighborhood for their cooperation. Their assistance helped ensure a peaceful resolution.

The sheriff’s office said it will release complete charges and a mugshot once available.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
