Super Daqx Mass Shooting Leaves One Dead; One Suspect Released Feb. 13, 2026

Rapides Parish, La. (2/23/2026) – The Super Daqx Mass Shooting left one man dead, four others injured, and two men charged with second degree murder. However, one suspect was released from custody on February 13, 2026.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reported deputies responded around 4:30 a.m. on September 27, 2025. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of Club Super Daqx at 7533 US 71 South.

When deputies arrived, all five victims had already been transported to local hospitals by private vehicles. Deputies secured the scene. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit then began processing evidence. Meanwhile, additional detectives responded to local hospitals and Raising Cane’s on MacArthur Drive to collect further evidence.

The Rapides Parish Coroner identified the deceased victim as 27-year-old Rakel Markez Morris of Alexandria. Morris was pronounced dead at Christus Cabrini Emergency Room. Four other victims received treatment for gunshot wounds.

Detectives Identified

Detectives identified two suspects through witness statements, surveillance video, and collected evidence. Authorities arrested Christian Matthew Scott, 28, of Simmesport, on September 30. They arrested Jonathan Lee Christal, 31, of Lettsworth, on October 2.

Both men were charged with second degree murder. Each received a one million dollar bond.

Scott was booked on September 30 at 7:10 p.m. Jail records show he was released on February 13, 2026, at 10:29 a.m. Christal remains in custody at the Rapides Parish Detention Center on a one million dollar bond.

Sheriff’s detectives are requesting the public’s assistance in locating additional witnesses. Investigators believe some individuals may have cellphone video of the incident.

Authorities remind the public that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or administrative action.
