Hammond, La. (1/29/2026) – A Tangipahoa Parish cocaine seizure led to multiple arrests after a joint investigation targeted interstate drug trafficking. Louisiana State Police Troopers and investigators worked with Troop L and the FBI during the operation in Hammond.

Authorities carried out the investigation on January 27, 2026. They targeted members of a drug trafficking organization linked to cocaine distribution across state lines. As a result, law enforcement executed multiple state search warrants in the Hammond area.

The coordinated operation led to a major drug bust. Investigators seized about 44 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1.5 million. They also recovered one Glock handgun and about $7,150 in U.S. currency.

Troopers Arrested Three

Troopers arrested three individuals and booked them into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on state charges. Police arrested 19-year-old Jorge Lira of San Juan, Texas, on possession with intent to distribute cocaine and conspiracy to distribute cocaine charges. Investigators also arrested 38-year-old Eliberto Guajardo of San Juan, Texas, on the same narcotics charges.

Authorities arrested 44-year-old Brice Strain Jr. of Tomball, Texas, on additional violations. He faces charges for possession of a firearm in the presence of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Officials said the case shows strong cooperation between agencies. The Louisiana State Police Narcotics and Violent Crime Task Force includes state troopers and investigators, plus several local and federal partners.
