NATIONAL: Clay County Spree Killing Leaves Six Dead, Including Child; Capital Murder Charges Expected

Clay County, Ms. (1/11/2026) — Authorities in Clay County are investigating a multi-scene spree killing that left six people dead, including a 7-year-old child. The Clay County spree killing unfolded across three locations and remains under active investigation.

District Attorney Scott Colom addressed the case during a Saturday morning press conference. He said the facts would warrant consideration of the death penalty if a conviction occurs.

Authorities arrested Daricka Moore, 24, of Cedar Bluff, without incident Friday morning. Investigators charged Moore with first-degree murder, although officials expect capital murder charges and additional counts.

The violence began around 6:56 p.m. Thursday when Clay County 911 received reports of gunshot victims on Blake Road. Deputies arrived within minutes and secured the scene.

Investigators later determined Moore first killed three male family members at a residence on David Hill Road. The victims were Glenn Moore, 67, Willie Ed Guins, 55, and Quentin Moore, 33.

The Clay County Medical Examiner said all three victims died from gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities believe the killings occurred before Moore left the scene.

Afterward, Moore allegedly stole Quentin Moore’s Ford F-150 and drove to a residence on Blake Road. Investigators said Moore forced entry while armed and attempted a sexual assault.

During that encounter, Moore allegedly shot and killed a 7-year-old girl in front of witnesses. Authorities said Moore also threatened another child with a firearm.

Moore then fled in the stolen truck to a residence on Siloam-Griffin Road. There, investigators discovered two additional victims, Barry and Samuel Bradley of Columbus.

Both Bradley victims also suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head, according to investigators. Authorities later recovered the stolen truck near the scene.

Law enforcement apprehended Moore at a roadblock near Pine Grove Road and Joe Myers Road. Multiple agencies assisted, including state and federal partners.

Authorities said they do not know the motive for the killings at this time. However, investigators continue working to complete a full and thorough review.

Officials confirmed the victims ranged in age from 7 to 67. At least four of the victims were related to Moore.

No other injuries were reported, and the Mississippi Crime Lab continues reviewing evidence. Investigators are also examining how Moore obtained the firearm.

Authorities ask anyone with information to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, pending changes

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
