Sulphur, La. (12/2/2025) – A one-year-old girl was shot and killed Thursday night in Sulphur, according to police.
On January 1, 2026, at approximately 8:21 p.m., the Sulphur Police Department received a report of a shooting.
Officers responded to a residence on Quelqueshue Street.
Upon arrival, officers learned that a one-year-old child had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Investigators later determined the child was shot by her mother, Kristin Bass.
Police took Bass into custody at the scene.
She now faces a charge of first-degree murder.
Additionally, a judge set Bass’ bond at ten million dollars.
Police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
However, investigators say the case remains active.
Meanwhile, the Sulphur Police Department continues to seek additional information.
