Winnfield, La. (11/23/2025) – Winnfield Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at the Henderson Apartments on the morning of December 23, 2025.
Officers responded around 10:11 a.m. after receiving reports of an unresponsive man, according to the Winnfield Police Department.
Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly after and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene due to gunshot wounds.
Police later identified the victim as 39-year-old Roger J. Thomas of Winnfield.
As detectives continue interviewing witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and collecting forensic evidence, the community is left grieving a man many say made a lasting impact.
Police stated preliminary findings suggest the incident was isolated and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
