Zwolle, La. (11/4/2025) – Sabine Parish Sheriff Aaron Mitchell announced the arrest of Zwolle Assistant Police Chief Christopher Scott Goodman, 48, of Many, for allegedly staging the shooting of his patrol vehicle early Sunday morning, October 26, 2025.
Detectives began investigating after Goodman claimed a vehicle pulled beside him on U.S. Highway 171 near Old Pleasant Hill and began shooting at his patrol unit while he was driving.
Louisiana State Police Troop E joined the investigation, assisting Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Detectives in gathering evidence. However, inconsistencies in Goodman’s story, along with digital and firearm evidence and statements from other individuals, led investigators to obtain an arrest warrant.
Goodman was booked into the Sabine Parish Detention Center on multiple charges:
- Malfeasance in office, tampering with evidence (felony)
- Obstruction of justice (felony)
- Criminal damage to property ($1,000–$50,000) (felony)
- Criminal mischief (misdemeanor)
No bond has been set at this time.
Authorities confirmed that Goodman remains employed with the Zwolle Police Department, but he has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
The case remains under active investigation as additional evidence is being processed.
