Monroe, La. (October 31, 2025) – Monroe Police have arrested Cameron James Criner, age 24, in connection with the Grammont Street triple homicide that left three people dead, including a two-year-old child.
Detectives say this second arrest marks another major step toward justice in one of Monroe’s most tragic cases. The victims, Jamal Bosley (27), Jaborris Simpson (25), and two-year-old Jhersi Simpson, were killed early Tuesday morning in what police described as a horrific act of violence.
Previously, Monroe Police arrested Travis Payton for the same incident, charging him with three counts of First-Degree Murder, Home Invasion, and Criminal Conspiracy. Authorities believe Criner played a significant role in the deadly attack and note that more arrests could follow as the investigation continues.
Mayor Friday Ellis expressed both sorrow and gratitude following the arrest. “This horrific act shook our city to its core,” Ellis said. “The loss of a child in such circumstances is a tragedy that shakes the soul of Monroe.”
Criminal History
Criner’s criminal history, Mayor Ellis added, is “extensive and deeply troubling.” Records show arrests in 2021 and 2022 for charges including domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer, false imprisonment, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Criner was legally prohibited from owning a firearm, yet authorities allege he violated that restriction in the commission of this crime.
Police Chief Zordan praised investigators and the public for their cooperation. “Every call and every tip mattered,” he said. “Community support once again made the difference.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Ellis urged residents to let justice take its course and to avoid retaliation or spreading misinformation. “Violence will not heal this wound,” he said. “It will only deepen it. Monroe must stand united.”
Officials also warned the public about fraudulent online fundraising accounts claiming to support the victims’ families. They encourage donors to verify fundraisers before contributing and report scams to law enforcement.
Anyone with information regarding this case should contact the Monroe Police Department at (318) 329-2600 or Crime Stoppers of North Delta at (318) 388-2274 (CASH).
As this investigation continues, city officials reaffirm their commitment to pursuing justice for the victims and restoring peace in the Monroe community.
