Lincoln University, PA (October 26, 2025) – One person was killed and six others were injured during a shooting late Saturday night at Lincoln University in Chester County, Pennsylvania.
The violence erupted around 9:30 p.m. outside the university’s International Cultural Center during homecoming celebrations following a football game. According to Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe, the scene was chaotic as people fled in multiple directions.
Law enforcement agencies from the Chester County District Attorney’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police, and the FBI responded to the scene. Authorities detained one individual who was in possession of a firearm, though investigators say there may be more than one shooter.
District Attorney de Barrena-Sarobe said the investigation remains active. However, early evidence suggests the incident was not a planned mass shooting. Officials continue to gather ballistic evidence and review video footage submitted by witnesses.
Chief Marc Partee of the Lincoln University Police Department described the night as devastating. The shooting shattered what was meant to be a joyful homecoming event, filled with alumni, students, and families reconnecting on campus.
Investigators are urging anyone with photos, videos, or information to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI. Authorities emphasize that digital evidence will be vital in identifying those responsible.
Governor Josh Shapiro expressed his condolences and support for the university community. Lincoln University, the nation’s first historically Black college, is located in southern Chester County.
The campus has since been released from lockdown, but police continue to secure the scene as the investigation unfolds.
