Avoyelles Parish, La. (9/24/2025) – The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office (APSO) has confirmed the felony arrest of one of its own correctional officers following an internal investigation.
According to APSO, the Criminal Investigations Unit (CIU) launched an inquiry on August 27, 2025, after a fight broke out at the APSO Detention Center #1 (DC-1) Jail Facility. The investigation revealed that a corrections captain had committed multiple criminal offenses while commissioned as an APSO deputy and employed full-time at the facility.
The officer, identified as 59-year-old Roslin Finister of Cottonport, Louisiana, was placed on administrative leave during the inquiry. Her employment with APSO has since been terminated.
On September 24, 2025, a 12th Judicial District Court Arrest Warrant was issued, leading to Finister’s arrest on charges of:
- Malfeasance in Office (Tampering with Evidence)
- Obstruction of Justice
- Malfeasance in Office (Sexual Conduct Prohibited with Offenders)
Finister was booked into jail and later released on a $60,000 bond. The investigation remains active.
Sheriff David L. Dauzat issued a statement following the arrest, emphasizing accountability within the department:
“We take our oath of office seriously. We hold ourselves to a higher standard. The public has entrusted us to perform our duties lawfully with honesty and integrity. We will continue to do so.”
Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
