Shreveport, La. (September 20, 2025) — The Shreveport Police Department is investigating a mass shooting that left two people dead and six others injured early Saturday morning in the Allendale neighborhood.
Authorities say the incident occurred just after 2:00 a.m. in the 1600 block of Poland Avenue, where more than 150 people had gathered. Responding officers arrived to a chaotic scene and found eight victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Six others sustained injuries but are expected to survive. Investigators believe this was a targeted attack, noting that the intended victim was struck but is recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Police also believe multiple shooters were involved. Given the size of the crowd, investigators are confident witnesses can provide vital information. They are urging anyone with details to come forward.
City and Police Leadership Respond
Mayor Tom Arceneaux released a statement addressing the tragedy:
“I know I speak for all of Shreveport when I say we are heartsick at the loss of life in Allendale. Shreveport deserves safe streets; this kind of violence has no place here. We will mourn the victims, pursue those responsible, and continue the hard work with our law enforcement and community to make every neighborhood safer.”
Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith also condemned the violence:
“This was a reckless and senseless act of violence that cut short two lives and left families shattered. To those responsible—turn yourselves in now. We will not stop until every person involved is held accountable.”
