Rapides Parish Teacher Arrested One Day After Baton Rouge Educator’s Drug Arrest

Alexandria, La (9/18/2025) – Authorities in Rapides Parish arrested a local teacher today after investigators uncovered evidence she supplied tobacco to a juvenile at an off-campus location.

The arrest comes just one day after law enforcement in Baton Rouge took another teacher into custody on unrelated drug charges.

On September 8, 2025, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about suspicious messages found on a juvenile’s cell phone. Detectives immediately launched an investigation, which included executing several search warrants on electronic devices. Through their investigation, they identified the educator as 27-year-old Camila Pacheco of Pineville. Bond set at $1,000.00.

Investigators say evidence revealed that Pacheco allegedly provided tobacco products to the juvenile. Consequently, earlier today, Pacheco turned herself in to detectives at the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Deputies arrested and booked her on one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile and one count of Unlawful Sale or Distribution of Tobacco Products to a Person Under 21. She was later released on a $1,000 bond.

Charges are Misdemeanors

Although the charges are misdemeanors, the case remains under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Shelby Anderson at the Criminal Investigation Division-Main Office at 318-473-6727. Because of the nature of the charges, no booking photo has been released.

Meanwhile, this arrest follows a separate case in Baton Rouge involving another Louisiana teacher. On Monday, deputies arrested 47-year-old Virginia Somers, a Westdale Middle School math intervention teacher, after a random lockdown search revealed drugs in her possession. A police K-9 alerted deputies to Somers’ bag, where they discovered cocaine in her wallet. Deputies later found marijuana and pipes in her car. She now faces multiple felony charges, including possession of cocaine and marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and violation of controlled dangerous substances in a school zone.

Together, the two arrests within 24 hours have raised concerns among parents and community members about teacher conduct and student safety. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate both cases while urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious behavior.
