OAKDALE, La. (7/18/2025) – Oakdale Mayor David Vidrine issued a public statement Friday addressing community concerns following the arrests of Police Chief Chad Doyle and former city employee Alison Doyle in separate federal and state investigations.

Vidrine acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations but emphasized that they involve individuals, not the entire city staff or police department.
“These developments are deeply troubling. They represent serious allegations that we do not take lightly,” Vidrine said. “But let me be clear: these are charges against individuals—not our entire police department, not our city staff, and not the values we uphold as a community.”
Alison Doyle was arrested earlier this week on two felony counts of malfeasance in office, accused of conspiring with businessman Chandrakant “LaLa” Patel to manipulate bids for city-owned properties, according to Louisiana State Police.
Chad Doyle remains Oakdale’s elected police chief while facing federal charges in a 62-count indictment. The charges include conspiracy, visa fraud, mail fraud, money laundering, and falsifying police reports for financial gain.
Vidrine noted that under the Lawrason Act, which governs Oakdale, the mayor’s authority to take direct administrative action against an elected police chief is limited.
“This is a difficult moment, but it is not the end of our story,” Vidrine said. “We will face this challenge with honesty, strength, and unity.”
He also expressed support for the Oakdale Police Department’s rank-and-file officers, describing them as “honorable men and women who serve this city every day with integrity and professionalism.”
The city pledged full cooperation with state and federal authorities and reiterated its commitment to restoring public trust.
