Port Barre, La. (7/14/2025) – A Port Barre man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery in St. Landry Parish. Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz announced the arrest of Chad M. Myers, 56, following a reported robbery on July 11, 2025, at Jim Tatman’s Mobile Homes in Opelousas.
According to Guidroz, deputies responded to a call about a laborer being robbed while working on a mobile home. The suspect, identified as Myers, allegedly brandished a small firearm, took the worker’s truck and trailer, and fled the scene. During the escape, Myers reportedly collided with several vehicles as he drove toward Port Barre.
For reasons not specified, Myers later drove to the Port Barre Police Department, where he was taken into custody without incident. He now faces charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
“This incident serves as a reminder that if confronted with an armed individual, do not antagonize them,” Guidroz said in a statement. “Your life is worth more than any possessions.”
