RAPC Seeks Public Input for Long-Term Alexandria-Pineville Transportation Plan

ALEXANDRIA, LA (6/24/2025) – The Rapides Area Planning Commission (RAPC) has launched an update to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for the Alexandria-Pineville region, a long-term effort called Move 2050.

The MTP is a federally required plan that outlines how the region will invest in infrastructure—roads, bridges, public transit, sidewalks, bike paths, and freight corridors—through the year 2050.

Public participation is at the heart of this process. RAPC is encouraging residents to take a brief 5–7 minute online survey and share concerns about traffic, safety, accessibility, and public transportation.

The survey is available here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8335448/Move-2050-MTP-Update-Survey and closes on August 31, 2025.

Community meetings will also be scheduled soon, giving residents a chance to speak directly with planners about key transportation needs and priorities.

RAPC is especially interested in hearing from all users of the transportation system—drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, transit riders, seniors, students, and individuals with disabilities.

The commission stresses that planning a safer and more connected future depends on local input.
