OPELOUSAS, La. — A disturbing homicide in Opelousas has led to the arrest of a local man who confessed to killing his mother and hiding her body in a trash can.
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, Opelousas Police officers responded to a call in the 900 block of Park Circle. The caller reported that a man admitted to killing his mother and placing her body in a trash can at the home. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a human body under the carport inside the reported trash can.
Opelousas Police, working in coordination with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division, immediately launched a joint investigation. Authorities located the suspect, identified as Aaron Lloyd, at a residence in Krotz Springs, Louisiana. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Opelousas for questioning.
Lloyd Admitted
During the interview, Lloyd admitted to injecting his mother, 65-year-old Lisa Lloyd, with methamphetamine before fatally beating her. He was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail and faces multiple charges, including First Degree Murder, Aggravated Second Degree Battery, Obstruction of Justice, Failure to Seek Assistance, and Distribution of Schedule II Drugs.
Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc expressed deep concern about the impact of the crime on the community.
