On June 1, 2025, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Hwy 31 in the Leonville area, where they discovered a 6-year-old child with multiple stab wounds to the face, neck, and chest. The child was transported to Opelousas General Hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge in critical condition. Patrick Seth Greene, 37, was arrested at the scene after being combative with officers. He faces charges including domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, two counts of aggravated assault, and resisting an officer. Additional charges are pending. Sheriff Guidroz expressed deep sympathy for the victim and assured that juvenile detectives are actively investigating the case.

Opelousas, LA (6/2/2025) – UrbanCast has confirmed with the Public Information Officer at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office that Patrick Seth Greene, age 37, was arrested in connection with a violent domestic incident that left a minor child with life-threatening injuries.
The child was airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge for emergency treatment.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in the 6300 block of LA Highway 31 in Opelousas. Greene was arrested and booked on the following charges:
- Domestic abuse battery (child endangerment)
- Domestic abuse battery (strangulation)
- Resisting an officer
Authorities stated that additional charges are expected as the investigation moves forward.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has been notified and is conducting its own investigation. Law enforcement also confirmed that multiple other children were present in the home at the time of the incident.
