PONCHATOULA, LA (4/15/2025) — A tragic incident unfolded Monday evening after a woman shot her husband and then fatally shot herself near a McDonald’s restaurant in Ponchatoula.
According to police, the woman entered the McDonald’s around 5:45 p.m., where her husband was working, and opened fire. He fled the restaurant but was struck in the arm.
The confrontation continued at a nearby car wash, where officers arrived and ordered the woman to drop her weapon multiple times. She did not comply and took her own life at the scene.
Authorities have not released her name pending notification of next of kin. The husband survived the shooting and is receiving medical treatment.
The investigation is ongoing.
