Unrestrained Driver Killed in Concordia Parish Single-Vehicle Crash

FERRIDAY, La. (3/23/2025) – An unrestrained driver was killed in Concordia Parish earlier today in a single-vehicle crash near Louisiana Highway 3232.

Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the scene at approximately 5:15 p.m. Saturday March 22, 2025 on U.S. Highway 84 near Ferriday.

Troopers determined that 51-year-old Mark Carney of Monterey was driving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma westbound before the crash.

For reasons still under investigation, Carney’s vehicle left the roadway and struck an unoccupied building nearby.

Carney, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortunately, no other individuals were injured during the incident. The building sustained damage but was empty at the time.

Authorities collected routine toxicology samples for analysis, although impairment is not currently suspected in the crash.

The incident, in which an unrestrained driver was killed in Concordia Parish, remains under active investigation by Troop E.

Louisiana State Police urge all motorists to remain alert, avoid distractions, and wear seatbelts at all times.

Not every crash can be survived, but proper safety precautions significantly increase the chances of survival.
