MAMOU, La.(3/8/2025) – Authorities have released the names of two teens killed in the Mamou Mardi Gras shooting, which also left 11 others injured.
The victims were identified as Bryson “BREAL” Green, a Cecilia High School student and the second-youngest of six siblings, and Alaya Christian, 16, an honor student at Lafayette Renaissance Charter High School. Christian played on the school’s softball team and served on the student council.

Law enforcement captured Trea’land Ty’rell Castille, 19, the suspected shooter, following an extensive manhunt. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Conroe Police Department, and U.S. Marshals found Castille hiding at an apartment complex in South Montgomery County, Texas. He is currently in Montgomery County Jail, awaiting extradition to Louisiana.
Castille faces two counts of first-degree murder, ten counts of attempted second-degree murder, and five counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. Officials say he allegedly opened fire during a Mardi Gras celebration in Evangeline Parish, killing two teens and wounding multiple others.
Sheriff Doolittle issued a strong warning to violent offenders:
“Criminals who think they can come here to hide or bring violence into our community better think again. This arrest sends a strong and unwavering message—we do not tolerate violent offenders in Montgomery County. If you commit heinous crimes and believe you can escape justice, we will find you.”
Authorities are also investigating a separate shooting at a Lundi Gras concert, which left three people injured. Investigators have not confirmed if the two shootings are connected.
The case remains under investigation, and officials urge anyone with information to come forward.
