GONZALES, La. (2/11/2025) – Louisiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Ascension Parish that occurred early Monday morning.
Authorities said Ascension Parish deputies and a Gonzales Police officer shot a suspect after he brandished a firearm.
Around 12:30 a.m., deputies stopped a vehicle matching the description of one linked to an armed robbery. The driver, 25-year-old Abdulrahman Ali of Gonzales, exited while holding a pistol. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Ali fired into the air and pointed the gun at officers.
Deputies and the officer fired, striking Ali. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he later died. No officers were injured.
The shooting remains under investigation.
