ALEXANDRIA, La. (1/25/2025) – Isaiah La’Ron Treadway, 22, has been identified by his mother as the individual involved in the officer-involved shooting at Academy Sporting Goods on Friday, January 24, 2025. The incident occurred at 3205 South MacArthur Drive and involved a Rapides Parish Deputy reportedly working security for the store.
Initial reports stated that one person was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The Alexandria Police Department and Fire Department assisted on the scene.
In a public Facebook comment, Treadway’s mother shared her perspective on the incident and her grief over the loss of her son. She called for compassion, patience, and justice while emphasizing the importance of a thorough investigation.

I’ve seen the comments and heard the remarks people have made regarding the incident on January 24, 2025, at Academy Sports and Goods. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion, so I’m not going to say if it’s right or wrong. Since everyone is stating their opinion, I have MY OPINION on this matter.
FIRST SIDE: Isaiah
Allegedly, my son was fleeing from the store when he was shot. According to the information given to me, my son had no weapon. My son cannot tell his side of the story because his life was taken on that fateful day.
SECOND SIDE: The Officer
An unknown officer working security for Academy allegedly attempted to apprehend my son for shoplifting. It is also alleged that my son assaulted him.
THIRD SIDE: The Truth
No one knows the full truth. This is an ACTIVE investigation! Until then, the truth is NOT KNOWN.
If my son was guilty of the crimes he was allegedly accused of, he should have paid the punishment for the crime(s). He shouldn’t have paid with his life. If the officer is guilty of deadly force against an unarmed suspect who was fleeing, he should pay the punishment for his crime.
Isaiah was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and uncle. He loved life, and he loved his family. He wasn’t perfect, but no one is perfect.

Treadway’s mother expressed that her son’s life should not have ended in this manner, regardless of the circumstances. She also stressed the importance of uncovering the truth through a fair investigation.
