Four Men Arrested After SWAT Operation on 28 East in Pineville

Pineville, LA (11/12/2024) – Four men were arrested after a SWAT operation on 28 East in Pineville on Sunday night. The SWAT operation on 28 East began when patrol deputies responded to the 5000 block of LA 28 in Pineville on November 10, 2024, at approximately 7 PM.

Deputies were investigating an alleged crime that occurred earlier on Circle Drive, where a man reportedly assaulted a victim with a firearm, attempting to carjack them and hitting them in the face multiple times.

Responding deputies identified the suspect as Kenneth Charles Evans, 38, of Pineville. When deputies attempted to contact Evans at a residence in the 5300 block of LA 28 East, other individuals in the home refused to exit. Due to concerns about Evans potentially being armed, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) SWAT team and Tioga Substation detectives were called in to negotiate and investigate further.

After nearly an hour of negotiation, SWAT obtained a search and arrest warrant for Evans. However, Evans was not located inside the residence. Instead, three other suspects were found and taken into custody: Jon Griffin, 37, of Channelview, TX; Jason Michael Foy, 46, of Pineville; and Matthew Wesley Johnson, 43, of Pineville.

Evans was later located on November 11 and taken into custody on outstanding warrants. He is currently held on a $140,000 bond. Griffin was released on a $500 bond, Foy is being held on a $500,000 bond, and Johnson was released on a $5,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may occur. RPSO thanked the public and media for their cooperation and patience during this operation.
