Alexandria, LA (7/20/2024) – As the November 5th election approaches, the race for the City of Alexandria Council At-Large seat is heating up. Current leaders face mounting challenges that have raised concerns about their effectiveness in addressing the city’s problems. Among the primary concerns cited by citizens are public safety and crime rates, which have surged well above national averages, straining an already understaffed police department. Economic disparities and the lack of livable wage jobs further exacerbate the city’s distress. Compounding these problems are lack of transparency and a utility system crisis of unprecedented proportions, leaving many residents in uncertainty and hardship.
In this context, three candidates have officially filed to run for the Council Member At-Large position, each bringing a unique set of experiences and visions for the community.
Lee Rubin
The incumbent, is seeking re-election as an Independent. A semi-retired businessman, Rubin has served on the council for a total of two nonconsecutive terms but has not disclosed a public platform.
