Louisiana State Police Investigate Homicide in Lake Providence at Request of East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office; 16-year-old suspect arrested

Lake Providence, LA (7/7/2024) – In the early hours of Sunday, July 7, 2024, the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office (ECPSO) called upon the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division, Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO), to lead an investigation into a deadly shooting incident on Charles D Jones Boulevard in Lake Providence.

The incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. during a local block party, which tragically ended in gunfire. Nineteen-year-old Earineca Brown was fatally shot and succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital. Additionally, a 15-year-old juvenile sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound but was treated and released from the hospital.

Following investigative efforts, LSP detectives arrested a 16-year-old male suspect. The young suspect allegedly confessed to shooting towards a crowd at the party. He has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder under LRS 14:30.1. The accused is currently held without bond at the Jackson Parish Correctional Center’s Juvenile Section.

As the Louisiana State Police Monroe Field Office takes the lead, with assistance from the ECPSO, the investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities have not disclosed any further details at this time.
