Alexandria, LA (5/25/2024) — In observance of Memorial Day, the City of Alexandria has announced changes to the trash collection schedule.
All city offices, including City Hall, Customer Service, the Animal Shelter, Public Works, and other departments, will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2024.
As a result, there will be no trash collection on Memorial Day. Residents who usually have their trash picked up on Monday will have their collection rescheduled to Tuesday, May 28. Consequently, those with regular Tuesday collections will have their trash picked up on Wednesday, May 29. The rest of the week’s schedule will proceed as follows: Thursday, May 30, will be a regular pickup day, and Friday, May 31, will also follow the normal schedule.
The city also noted that ATRANS bus services will not operate on Memorial Day, but regular bus service will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly and ensure their trash is placed at the curb on the appropriate rescheduled collection days.
