LaSalle Parish, LA (May 19, 2024) – A tragic accident on May 19, 2024, at approximately 7:10 a.m., claimed the life of 21-year-old Dustin G. Rachal from Pineville. Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 84 west of Whitehall.
The initial investigation revealed that Rachal was driving a 2013 Dodge Ram westbound on U.S. Highway 84 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle left the roadway. The truck traveled down a ditch embankment, vaulted, and struck several trees.
Rachal, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Routine toxicology samples were collected and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, the proper use of seat belts can significantly reduce the risk of death and injury. Ensuring that every occupant is properly restrained can often mean the difference between life and death.
In 2024, Troop E Troopers have investigated 22 fatal crashes resulting in 24 fatalities.
UrbanCast/involvedinitall.com extends our deepest condolences to Dustin Rachal’s family and friends during this difficult time.
