Livingston, LA (5/12/2024) – Deputies from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) responded to two unrelated calls regarding shots fired on the evening of May 11th—one on Dubois Lane in Denham Springs around 8 p.m. and the other on Ed Brown Rd in Tickfaw, situated within Livingston Parish, approximately 30 minutes later.
Sheriff Jason Ard provided details on the incidents, stating, “In the Dubois Lane incident, deputies discovered a 43-year-old male victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the torso. He was promptly transported for medical treatment. Following investigation, detectives determined that the victim’s neighbor fired the shot, along with several others that struck the victim’s residence. We believe this incident arose from an ongoing dispute between the two parties involved. One suspect has been apprehended.”
The suspect in custody has been identified as Royce Cash, 23, facing charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property. Currently, Cash is being held at the Livingston Parish Detention Center.
Regarding the second incident on Ed Brown Rd, Sheriff Ard revealed, “Deputies arrived at the scene to find an 11-year-old female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. She was swiftly transported for surgery and is currently listed in critical condition. Our investigation suggests that the young girl was an innocent bystander, inside a nearby residence when she was struck. Detectives believe the shooting occurred outside the residence involving at least three individuals. Multiple shell casings were recovered from the scene, and we are actively pursuing leads.”
