Local Community Rallies Behind Single Mom and Three Sons After Devastating Fire

A single mother and her three young sons are facing a daunting challenge after losing everything, including their cherished pets, in a recent electrical fire. Fortunately, they were not home at the time and are now safe, staying with friends. However, they are in desperate need of assistance to rebuild their lives.

Rane’ Constantino and Rachel Cormier, with the support of the community, are coordinating efforts to collect and store essential items for the family. Donations can be dropped off at the Rapides Parish Health Unit, located behind the DMV in Alexandria. For those unable to make it to the health unit, alternative arrangements can be made.

The family’s immediate needs include diapers for their 10-month-old, Enfamil Enfacare formula, clothing for their 2.5-year-old, and specialized items for their 3.5-year-old, who is autistic. The mother also requires essentials such as underwear and socks, but she has a passion for plants, offering a thoughtful alternative for those wishing to contribute.

In addition to clothing and personal care items, the family could benefit from towels, washcloths, and specific food items such as multigrain Cheerios and Cap’n Crunch cereal. Toys to help the children cope with the trauma of losing their belongings are also appreciated, including firetrucks, Legos, and fidget toys.

The community’s generosity and support during this challenging time exemplify the spirit of solidarity and compassion that defines Rapides Parish. Your contributions, no matter how big or small, can make a significant difference in helping this family rebuild their lives. Let’s come together to provide hope and assistance to those in need.
