Cashing in gone wrong, Home Depot employee accused of embezzling $1.2M

San Rafael, CA (10/22/2023) – On October 17, 2023, the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) received a call from Home Depot regarding an employee who embezzled approximately $1.2 million.

Through Home Depot’s internal investigation into the embezzlement, they determined the suspect had been taking cash from the business since August 2022.

The suspect admitted to taking cash from Home Depot since last year.

The suspect had over $8,000.00 in her possession when she was arrested.

The suspect was arrested and booked at the Marin County Jail for felony embezzlement charges.

SRPD Detectives obtained a bail enhancement due to the large amount of cash the suspect had taken and the concern of her being a flight risk.

SRPD Detectives obtained and served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. A small amount of cash and a high volume of designer merchandise were located and were suspected to have been purchased with the embezzled funds.
